Illegal immigration is hurting school finances

NOTE: I just got this e-mail from a friend of mine in the Filipino-American Society of Greater Columbia, South Carolina. She recieved from a relative, who is quoting an English Teacher from California. I happen to agree with these sentiments.

Subject: Problem in the Public Schools (From=a California school teacher).... >> >> This=English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet..... "As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware=of.... I'm in charge of the English-as-a-second-languag= department at a >> large southern California high school=which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that the students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.&=bsp;>> Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate Bell Gardens,
Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When
I free breakfast, I'm not talking a=glass of milk and roll, but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fru=ts and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of=this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!) I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buy=ng new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative stud=nts who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in=America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!) I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them=nbsp;"Putas" (whores) and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, day care ., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled, not only to be in this country, but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and=housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes, let them spend=some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher ;medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc . For me, I'll pay more for=nbsp;tomatoes. We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and=return? It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not valu= education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school at age 15 and that refuses to assimilate, an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correctness" that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know. CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Some businesses do not want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don't want expensive produce. Our Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs. But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to 3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent. He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care. His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school. He requires bilingual teachers and book.He qualifies for relief from high energy bills. If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare, all of this at (our) taxpayer's expense. He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance. Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and&=bsp;>> printed material. He and his family receive the equivalemt of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits. Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his. The American Taxpayers >> also pay=for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap=labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up America! PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

  1. Well it's easy to point to political correctness as the problem but political correction is just a label for lazy and detached. America has been indoctrinated and hypnotized by our corporate culture. We have had our brains and our spirits sucked out and replaced with inconsequential mumbo jumbo. The constant bickering of the talking heads spewing out every possible scenario 24/7 on cable news has made us a nation of armchair activists that regurgitate those implanted opinions to everyone that can hear them from their couch pulpit until it becomes their truth. This is what has become of us. Our generation. My generation was once called to action, to change injustice and and keep a tight reign over BIG BROTHER. Where have we gone? Since 1975 wages have stayed the same while corporate earnings have soared to UNGODLY levels. The hours that Americans work has grown into a unmanageable level while those in other Countries have decreased to control stress and illness. The stress of making that American Dream work has become unmanageable. Our children suffer. Families fail. Standards drop. In order to satisfy that inner activist we complain to our neighbors, "Those Mexicans are taking our jobs!", then we go back to our beer. We have become hypnotized into obedience. We have been controlled into submission yet they allow us to feel as though we are still in control but we are not. We will not be in control until we turn off that boob tube and remember who we really are. What we really believe in. What we really want as a nation.

I agree with much of what the good teacher speaks. It is true indeed, every word. I have seen my own children attend classes where half the class could not speak English and this was not in the big districts of California but in the Exclusive little Island in South Carolina called Hilton Head. I have had the opportunity to sit in a courtroom most of the day and see our court system bogged down because 85% of the litigants were afforded a translator. Time after time I sat there and saw the frustration and ultimate defeat from the bench for lack of identification and ultimate location, for matters of consequence for the illegals. Insurance rates and taxes add to more hours on the backs of Americans. You would have to be blind not to see, or hypnotized and controlled.

  2. Corporate America has grown into a gluttonous beast with an insatiable appetite. Every year demanding more and more profits. This 'Main Street' that the politicians speak of is all but nonexistent. More and more small businesses fail as their owners and employees are fed to the beast. We, my friends, are caught on a perpetual treadmill to oblivion.

So here is where I and the good teacher part ways on our understanding of the problem. Is it really our need for housekeepers and gardeners to tend our lawns that fuels our inability to call to action this obvious invasion of the land we love? No! It is not! I believe in the American spirit more than that. That is another lie that has been Fed to us, to lull us into believing this is somehow okay with us, to hypnotize us into submission. Why is it that so many can get IN yet it is so hard for us to get OUT! Has anyone tried to apply for a passport lately? Probably not! You have no time or money to travel. Do yourself a favor and apply for a passport tomorrow then get back to me when your eyes have been opened.

I guess you are reading this and wondering what I am getting to. What is the point? There is no point because there is no action. Until we sit up and ask why and then most importantly wait!!! Wait for the answer. A real answer that rings true. Not a meandering statement. Until we awaken from our stupor and demand answers we can have no action. We have to exchange our PC for CS (Common Sense). When we awaken and declare 'The Emperor has NO CLOTHES'! Then and only then will we live in an America where someone would almost need to be committed if they thought to wake up one morning and tell us they have screwed up so bad that they didn't even know till last night that they needed TRILLIONS of dollars! Laughable!

There can be no point till you awaken and ask WHY? Why are they building a Super-Highway straight through from inside Mexico to inside Canada? Question them. Is the corporate giant syndrome seeping into our own government relations opening us up to 'expansion' (actually dismantling of America as we know it) melting boarders. In the words of the great Jerry Seinfeld, "I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin...

Wake up! Read! Listen to broadcasts of the news from another Country looking in! Expand your minds and break the chains. It's not to late, we're right on time. Reclaim this Country. Get involved! Don't take their word for it, research!

I also would agree that you should send the above post from the teacher to your friends if nothing else. Get Mad and Reclaim our Country before it IS to late!

Kathie, once I again, I am amazed by your insight. While I agree with you on some degree that the need for cheap labor is an excuse, i also feel it is valid, in that it based on greed. many of the people compalining about the problem, created it. rememer John huffungton? he lost the california republican bidm because he and then fellow conservative wife Ariana, decided to knwingly employ an illegal perosn as a maid. Clinton had a cabinet nominne step down because she an illegal alien as a nanny, and how many times have we heard about wal-mart or some smilar chain being sued by the federal government only to get a slap on the risk. These people need to go to jail for breaking the law. If a corporatio does it, their right to sell sotcok is suspended for a year, the the seond time is three yerars, and the third time is permanent suspension to trade on any american stock excvhnage and jail for the ceos and top officers as for your passporet arguement, i agree. The fact is that my former host mother during y peace corps time, finally imiigrated to this country 25 years after filing her visa. She had relatives who lived here, had passed all federal checks, was an activemebr of her catholic church, has sponsors, and had a guaranteed teaching job in san francisco, no crimianl in her family, and it took her 25years. why? The art of the world she came from, she has been living in san fraciso with her brother for abot three year now. she is now 73 years old. Yet we are going to give people who have breaking the law and livin here illegally, some sort of free ride. The problem here is that we have double standards. Just think how much money the governemnt would have earned had Mrs Ozoa been able to move here more than two and half decades ago, and start her 40,000 a year job as a math teacher. she would have become a citizen seven years later, and become part of our process. by the way she has republican values. instead they spend 25 years forcing this woman to reapply for a visa she had already been promised, only to waste more of our money.
